This exercise is a nature-based review of the day.
Feel free to follow the instructions below or download the pdf to help you guide the practice. Instructions in parentheses are unspoken directions.
Instruction
(Invite each child to take a turn sharing their rose, bud, and thorn for the day in any order.)
Rose represents something that felt positive/pleasant in the day.
Bud is something that you are growing or improving on.
Thorn is something challenging you experienced.
(If possible, try not to fix anything. Instead let them share their experience as it is.)
If it feels comfortable, gently bring your share to your hearts. If not, let the share go.
(They can imagine their heart or physically touch their hearts.)
Breath in through your nose… almost as if you were to smell the flower you just shared, and exhale slowly all the way out.
Adaptations
Depending on the child, they might share all three they might just share one or two and that is okay. Keep in mind is that it is okay to share a little or not share at all. Taking time to share, process, or even be silent is always welcomed.
