This walking meditation practice invites an awareness to the connection between the body and mind.
Walking Meditation-
Follow the 6 step instructions here online or print the bookmark instructions below to have on hand while reading together.
Practice
Complete both parts; a “Preparation for Caregiver/Parent” and a “Preparation Together” practice. View instructions on “Prepare” page.
Read
Read the chosen book.
Mindful Moment
Choose a character and imagine how they would walk. Mindfully walk as this character would. Notice what arises in the body. (Do this for a few minutes to become familiar with the feeling of being the character.)
Share
Call the group back to shared space and voice their experience. (Rest for a minute.) Ask what can we learn from walking in their shoes? Is there something we can connect with?
Offer
Is there something we learned from walking in their shoes? Is there something we need to offer for ourselves from this experience? Take a moment to give this offering and then offer a warm feeling for the practice together.
Also view “Offer” page.
Rest
Let go of the practice in a way that feels right to each child in the moment. View “Rest” page.
You have completed a sacred reading practice!
