Follow the 6 step instructions here online or print the bookmark instructions below to have on hand while reading together.

  1. Prepare

Complete both parts; a “Preparation for Caregiver/Parent” and a “Preparation Together” practice. View instructions on “Prepare” page.

  2. Read

    Read the story.

  3. Mindful Moment

Now read the story again bringing your quiet attention to kindness in the story.

  4. Share

Share with each other the different ways that kindness showed up in the story. Are there creative actions of kindness? Was there something unexpected? Are there other ways you can imagine someone giving kindness in the story that did not happen?

  5. Offer

Take a few minutes to imagine your innate goodness shining for yourselves and others. In your own special way, can you imagine offering kindness from your heart center to someone in need today?

    Also visit “Offer” page.

  6. Rest

Let go of the practice in a way that feels right to each child in the moment. View “Rest” page.

Adaptations

For children that are needing some movement or prefer to use creative expression, they could act out the kindness they witnessed in the story.
